Dear Members,

The Legal Services Board is consulting on their ideas to require legal regulators, such as the SRA, to pay more attention to ethical issues.

In short, they want regulators to have rules which make clear that professional ethical duties are integral to the way we behave and act throughout our careers and that we are supported to make ethical decisions.

HILS is responding to these proposals on your behalf and would like to include references to real situations where you may have been challenged – perhaps by a client, other side or someone in your firm- to make a decision with which you were not comfortable.

There is no need to share anything which could identify you or others- just a broad outline of what arose and how it was settled.

You may also have some ideas about what would have been helpful by way of support- a helpline for example.

Do please let us have your examples by Friday, 11th April. Thank you.
